“Some stories are not heroic, but they deserve to be etched into the skin.”

Reflections from the Tattoo Studio
Not long ago, a man sat in front of me at the tattoo studio. From the moment he walked in until he sat down, he barely spoke. He simply smiled.
It was the kind of smile people wear when they are trying their best to look okay.
A Story Unfolds
When I casually asked why he chose that tattoo design, he paused before sharing his story.
There was a time when everything seemed to be falling into place:
His career was stable,
His relationship was strong,
The future looked promising.
Then life changed direction.
Setbacks and Struggles
Several setbacks arrived one after another:
Plans fell apart,
Work had to be rebuilt from scratch,
The person who promised to stay was no longer there.
None of it was dramatic enough to make headlines, but it was enough to shake his confidence and leave him feeling lost.
Facing the Darkness
Some days he ignored phone calls. Some days he avoided messages. Sometimes he spent hours riding around the city at night because he simply did not want to go home.
A Tattoo with Meaning
When I asked why he decided to get tattooed, he smiled and said:
“I’m not getting this tattoo to remember what I lost. I’m getting it to remember that I survived it.”
The Tattoo Session
Throughout the session, he barely moved. Not because it didn’t hurt, but because he had already carried a different kind of pain for far too long.
When the tattoo was finished, he stood in front of the mirror for a long time. He was still the same person, living the same life, but something in his eyes had changed.
A Reminder of Resilience
Sometimes people do not get tattoos to become someone new. Sometimes they get them as a reminder that no matter what happened, they are still here.
After everything, I'm still here.
